Pathways to Culturally Competent Care
Nutrition Booklets

These booklets were developed with a team at the Boston University School of Public Health to address the nutritional concerns of Vietnamese-American families with infants and young children.

Lan’s Story: Feeding My Children is a case study that features the experience of a mother of two children who have very different feeding patterns. The left page features the narrative, and the right page gives more in-depth information and data about the various topics covered. The goal is to give providers insight to cultural traditions within the Vietnamese-American population to enable them to provide better care.

What We Eat to Help Us Grow was designed to facilitate conversations between care providers and Vietnamese families about diet. Photos of common foods in the Vietnamese-American diet offer visual references to help overcome potential language barriers.
